i love this phrase and i believe it can be very true:

"some phrases will ring true and others false. Think about the ones that aren't on the mark and find the true statement lurking behind the false one. You may find that the truth is a simpler statement than the one you made"

i found this on a website when i was looking for helpful tips on how to write an artists statement. although this is meant to be about editing and rewriting a statement, i think it is helpful and can pertain to life.
